Procrastination

Procrastination

Procrastinating is a strategy for an overloaded and stressed-out brain and can become a pattern of behaviour. I hear you say, “How can this be a strategy?”. It’s because when you procrastinate, you want a quick fix to overcome a difficult time. Eating chocolate as a quick fix for a meal does not give us the nutrients we need. Procrastination will leave an empty feeling and achieve very little.

However, procrastination serves a purpose, just as we experience pain if we have a stone in our shoe. Pain is an indicator, not the problem, but it alerts us to the issue. The behaviour of procrastinating can signal something is wrong. It could be a belief that you are not good enough, life is too hard, fear of failure and many more.

When you find yourself procrastinating (e.g. gaming, scrolling on your phone, people-pleasing, even housework), I am here to help you identify and change these unhelpful beliefs by putting strategies in place that support you in making change and enabling you to reach your goals.
